We have officially passed the statistical peak of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, but we’re still not expecting any tropical cyclone formation across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf over the next seven days.

What’s happening elsewhere?

A few areas are being monitored in the Pacific Basin as they continue to see a more active year thanks to a strengthening El Niño:

  • Tropical Storm Norbert: Active in the eastern Pacific, well west-southwest of Baja California.
  • Area of low pressure near Mexico: Showers and thunderstorms remain disorganized, but conditions are favorable for development.
    • There’s an 80% chance of formation over the next 48 hours, and a 90% chance over the next seven days.
  • Area southeast of Hawaii: A broad area of low pressure is producing showers and thunderstorms, but development is expected to be slow.
    • The chance of formation is just 10% over the next seven days.

The bottom line for Alabama beaches

For Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Dauphin Island, Fort Morgan and the surrounding Alabama coast, the Gulf remains quiet from tropical activity.

That’s good news if you have beach plans this week. We’ll continue watching the Atlantic and Gulf as hurricane season continues, but for now, we are looking clear.
