On tap for Oct 11: Sunshine and warmer-than-normal afternoons this week

The sunshine sticks around for Monday, with temperatures climbing to the mid 80s by the afternoon.

Highs will continue to reach the mid to upper 80s through Friday, with some inland areas potentially approaching the lower 90s. These temperatures are unusually warm for October and could come close to daily records before big changes by the weekend!

Overnight temperatures will stay relatively mild, starting in the lower to mid 60s tonight before warming into the upper 60s by the middle of the week along the coast.

Measurable rain is not expected for the next week as high pressure keeps our weather dry.

Beach conditions improving

Although the rip current risk is expected to remain low this week, beachgoers should always follow posted beach flags and local safety guidance.

Light winds are expected over the water, generally from the west or northwest tonight. During the week, winds will shift through a daily pattern, tending to blow offshore in the overnight and morning hours, before turning onshore during the afternoon.

A cooler change arrives for the weekend

The stretch of warm, sunny weather won’t last forever. A cold front is expected to move through Coastal Alabama late Friday. Little to no rain is expected, but the front should bring cooler, drier air into the region.

Saturday will still be mostly sunny, but temperatures are forecast to fall back to around 78 degrees, with breezy conditions.

Cooler weather will become even more noticeable Saturday night, as lows are expected to settle in the low 60s or upper 50s.
